ENKO CAPITAL WEST AFRICA
In 2018, Enko Capital West Africa (ECWA) was launched alongside the opening of Enko’s office in Abidjan. ECWA focuses on debt and equity investments in the Francophone region. Enko is committed to further development in West Africa as it sees opportunities in the region in all asset classes. Enko’s operations in West Africa also give the Group a better knowledge of the region and a strong local presence.
Debt strategy for a West African bank
In 2020, ECWA was mandated to manage a debt-focused strategy for a West African bank pension fund. This strategy focuses primarily on local currency debt in the Francophone region. In the same year, ECWA also launched a multi-asset strategy. It focuses on both debt and equity in the French-speaking region, with a total capital guarantee..
Private Debt Strategy
Enko is preparing to launch its private debt strategy. The team will create and invest growth capital aligned with the SDGs, focused on ESG/impact and gender-oriented 2x in medium-sized SMEs in need of capital. The strategy will be executed through a variety of debt instruments, including mezzanine and senior debt, as well as short-term trade and commodity financing. Increases in shares via warrants, kickers, would appear in most transactions. The strategy is sector-independent and will focus primarily on sub-Saharan Africa.
